Hey friends! Welcome to the rooftop.
The name’s Gabrielle, but most call me Gabby. I’m a child of God, a writer, and an avid lover of peaceful strolls and fuzzy animals.
But enough about me. Have you ever climbed onto a roof? I don’t mean some tiny tin sheet atop a shed or something like that. I mean a real, shingle-covered roof that’s just high that your enough your legs get a little unsteady near the edge and your stomach quivers like tree leaves on a breezy day.
I have a lovely rooftop back home, one of those serious ones. If you find the right spot, you can make out the wide world between gaps in the nearby trees. Levels of forest rise in the distance like leafy waves, climbing ever so slightly until they meet the pale sky. Birds call back and forth like arguing neighbors. The ever-present cicadas creak out their own monotonous tune, and the occasional rooster crows from the farm next door.
My rooftop is one of the most peaceful places I write.
I want the writing prompts on this site to be like a precious writing spot: valuable and freeing. I want these snippets to resurrect a story, perhaps one you’ve been struggling with for a long time. I hope that these prompts will light up your imagination and start tales we’ll be reading for years to come.
With that said, welcome to the rooftop! Stay a little while and enjoy the view.

P.S. Writing prompts will be posted every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. 🙂
